Baby Boomers Want To Own A Business

Have you ever found yourself daydreaming about the career you'd love to have? Then you blink and are faced with reality that you HAVE to do the one you currently wake up to each day because of financial obligations?

Well, there are many baby boomers who are saying "enough is enough"! They're searching for a meaning to their work, and it could be the next trend for the nation's 76 million aging boomers. Those with entrepreneurial spirit want to own a business, but not just any business - one with a "meaning".

According to Marc Freedman, the president of Civic Ventures, he says "more boomers are seeking 'encore careers' to solve social and political problems related to healthcare, education, and eldercare - and simply pursuing work that has meaning to them".

Although this generation is overall more active and healthier than the last, age discrimination continues to be a barrier for older workers. Many are planning for another 10 plus years in the workforce, but also wanting to incorporate travel and time for their hobbies too. They also want the financial freedom to have the best of all worlds.

Baby boomers are finding that an alternative that to the age discrimination issue is owning a home-based business. Just as with a brick and mortar business your due diligence must be done - but there are many that will provide an income and create wealth, even while pursuing your ‘encore career'.

Legitimate home-based companies are thriving even in today's economy. It's those who are making a difference in people's lives daily by educating them to help themselves and others. Baby boomers are seeing these are opportunities to give back and teach others, as well as allowing them the flexibility to enjoy themselves along the way.
